Fuerth lies just west of Nuremberg, the city centers are about 8km apart. Fuerth was first documentary mentioned on 1. november 1007 in documents of emperor Henry II. where he donated his belongings in the area of Fuerth to the newly created bishopric of Bamberg. He also conferred market privileges to the town, they where later transferred to the city of Nuremberg by Henry III.
The first german railway was opened between Fuerth and Nuremberg in 1835.
